The Viper Motorcycle Company.
Here’s the most common complaint you always seem to hear about factory ‘custom bikes’, “It’s just a bunch of  prefab, bolted on sheet metal wrapped around an S&S engine.” Sadly, sometimes it‘s the case. Which is the main reason you should be excited about Viper Motorcycles. Viper didn’t want to run on someone else’s power plant so the Minnesota-based company built their own. The results? An  air-cooled billet aluminum 152ci short-stroked engine Viper says is capable 128 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque. Viper’s 45-degree V-Twin was developed in conjunction with Al “Mr. H” Melling Designs. The “H” stands for horsepower. Melling Design is best known in Formula 1 racing circles for his work TVR and GT-1 engines. So “Mr. H” brought that Formula 1 experience to Viper and incorporated the technology into Viper power plant. This partnership has been instrumental in producing an engine that adds plenty of ponies, but also claims to produce 30% less heat than most competitor's air-cooled V-Twins. Not bad, huh?

ImageViper Motorcycles is a company to keep an eye on in 2008. Here’s some reasons why … Viper Motorcycle Company, recently announced that they have hired Mr. Peter Anton as the new CFO of  Viper. Mr. Anton's background includes 10 years of experience in the custom motorcycle industry. Serving as CFO for Big Dog Motorcycles for approximately five years, similar roles followed at American Iron Horse and the Titan Motorcycle Company. Prior to working in the Powersports Industry, Mr. Anton held various accounting, finance and audit positions with Arthur Andersen & Co., Beech Aircraft Corporation, Mueller Industries, Rent-A-Center Division of Thorn EMI, and other firms. Mr. Anton is a CPA and holds a BSA degree in Accounting and Economics from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Viper Motorcycle Company has also hired long time industry experts John Huffman and Cindi Todd.

ImageViper also introduced four new production models at the Cincinnati V-Twin Show back in February of this year. The Viper Diamondback, The Viper Diablo, The Viper Diablo Deluxe, and the rigid roller, Viper Chopper. While the Diamondback and Diablo are carryover models from 2007, The Diablo Deluxe and Viper Chopper made their debut to great reviews. All 2008 Viper motorcycles feature: Viper Billet 152 Cubic Inch Short Stroke Air Cooled 45, V-Twin, a Viper Oil Dampened Adjust-on-the-Fly Air-Ride Rear Suspension, Viper Integrated Isometric Dampening System and a Viper Dry Sump Oiling System, Utilizing Proprietary Oil in the Frame Technology.

Viper Motorcycles have strong selling points that should help the company to succeed. They produce a high-powered, American-made V-Twin in a platform that features plenty of proprietary parts on a hand-built motorcycle with several cool custom paint choices. So, in essence, Viper is a production motorcycle company who’s bikes are mostly handmade. Viper also has a modern 36,000 sq/ft facility to call home and a name that's already associated with high-performance. In the public's mind, the name 'Viper' conjures images of one thing … going fast. Real fast.
